Pressure drops caused by undersized pipework
Our energy analysis now includes a report calculating the correct pipe size for the compressor station’s output, checking the existing system and proposing any modifications.
As part of the Energy analyses we now include a report calculating the correct pipe size for the station’s output, checking the existing system and proposing modifications.
By evaluating energy and pressure analyses together, we found a 4 bar pressure drop over 10 metres of pipework at an energy company processing rapeseed.
This clearly demonstrates that the pipework is undersized.
Calculations confirmed the measurements: the pipework should be at least DN40 rather than the existing DN25. We also found insufficient air receiver volume; instead of the current 1.6 m3 we would recommend at least 4 m3. This replacement should eliminate frequent cycling of the two-stage compressor.
