Adjusting the pressure control band

At a manufacturing company specialising in automation technology, we measured compressor losses during unloaded running of around CZK 120,000 per year. During an analysis of the current profile we found that the compressor cycles frequently because the difference between unloading and loading pressures is too small: 0.6 bar.

This is inefficient operation, as shown by air production costs of CZK 0.75/Nm3.

One solution is to replace the existing compressor with a variable-speed model, but this requires an initial investment. Simulating the same compressor with a wider control band of at least 1 bar showed that this adjustment alone could reduce annual compressed air costs by around CZK 80,000.
