Connecting two compressed air systems

Do you operate several separate compressed air systems and wonder whether this is economical?

An energy analysis at a toolmaking company in South Bohemia showed that connecting two separate systems could significantly reduce compressed air production costs. Before the systems were combined, annual electricity costs for compressed air production were CZK 1,500,000.

After connecting the systems – at a cost of CZK 20,000 for 10 m of pipework – and then detecting and repairing leaks – average annual compressed air costs fell by CZK 600,000.

Of the two original 45 kW compressors, one now serves as a full standby unit. The monthly saving of CZK 50,000 would cover the acquisition of a new compressor through operating lease, with a monthly payment of approximately CZK 8,000 over 60 months.
