Condensate disposal

Did you know that compressed air costs also include condensate disposal? We investigated a company collecting condensate in a 1,000-litre plastic IBC container, which had to be emptied every three weeks. A hazardous-waste collection company charged CZK 50,000 per year for environmentally responsible disposal at CZK 3 per litre.

We proposed installing, downstream of the compressors, a separator, which separates waste condensate into oil and water with residual oil content.

The separator uses an activated carbon filter and the manufacturer guarantees residual oil below 15 mg/L. The cost of a new separator, including regular six-monthly maintenance, was approximately half the cost of disposal by collection.
