Compact air flowmeter without a straight inlet section

The new compact air flowmeter from CS Instruments GmbH has an interesting design. Conventional calorimetric flowmeters require a straight calming section of 10–30 × DN (pipe diameter) for accurate measurement. Thanks to its diffuser, this meter can be installed without that section. Its installation length is only 135 mm. It is available in sizes from ¼ to 2 inches and, depending on internal diameter, with a measuring range of 3.6–1,195 m3/h (up to 1,450 m3/h in the max-flow version). It is suitable for air and common industrial gases (Ar, CO2, N2, O2, N2O).
The standard measurement accuracy is 1.5%, a very good figure. Unlike flowmeters with a straight calming section, it is also available with a lower accuracy of 6%, suitable where only approximate consumption measurements are needed, for example for individual machines.
A version with integrated pressure measurement is also available.
The device retains all parameter settings and communication outputs: 4–20 mA analogue, pulse output and RS485 Modbus RTU. Its price makes it an attractive option for monitoring consumption in individual production areas or the central compressor room.
