How much do compressed air leaks cost?
An energy analysis at a manufacturer of plastic and aluminium windows identified continuous air leakage while the compressors were running during a production shutdown.
At a manufacturer of plastic and aluminium windows, an energy analysis measured a continuous leakage rate of 32 L/s while compressors ran during a production shutdown. This represented additional annual costs of CZK 195,000.
After reviewing the measurement results, management decided to begin immediately repairing leaks and repeat the measurement later to verify progress. Six months later, a new measurement showed that continuous leakage had fallen below 9 L/s, saving CZK 160,000 per year compared with the previous situation and ensuring sufficient compressed air for production equipment.
