Is waste heat recovery worthwhile?
Count only heat for which there is actual demand at the same time. Unused summer surplus is not a saving.

How we calculate
Method: Recovered heat = min(Pavailable × share, demand) × hours × overlap, capped at annual heat demand. Replaced energy = recovered heat / existing source efficiency. Payback = investment / savings.
Assumptions and limitations: Overlap must be based on seasonal operation; an average does not capture storage tanks or peaks. Auxiliary energy and heat-recovery maintenance are excluded and their costs must be deducted in the design. Simple annual balance excluding VAT, discounting, financing and price increases. This is not an energy audit under ISO 11011.
