Continuous flow measurement – using tapping saddles
Considering permanent monitoring of compressed air flow, pressure, temperature or dew point, but concerned about major modifications to your pipework?
Considering permanent monitoring of compressed air flow, pressure, temperature or dew point, but concerned about major modifications to your air pipework?
Tapping saddles offer an interesting way to install measuring equipment, especially where continuous operation prevents the compressed air supply from being shut down.
Drilling is performed under pressure using specially designed tools that prevent swarf and other contaminants from entering the pipework.
We fitted a tapping saddle to an existing DN76 pipe at an automotive manufacturer. The company’s financial specialist estimated that a one-hour production stoppage needed for installing the saddle would cost CZK 200,000. The tapping saddle, including installation, cost no more than CZK 1,500.
