Example of heat recovery and a VSD+ compressor

At a gas company, based on a simulation from an analysis we recommended a new Atlas Copco GA 75 VSD+ compressor. Adding it to the system can save almost CZK 400,000 by eliminating unloaded running through VSD+ technology: a variable-speed drive with a permanent-magnet motor.

Further savings are possible by using residual heat to heat domestic hot water. The Energy Recovery water/oil heat exchanger and heating connections cost approximately CZK 130,000. Calculated savings on water heating are CZK 300,000 per year, giving a payback period of less than five months after commissioning the new compressor.

Another way to use compressor waste heat is to warm adjacent rooms by directing hot air through ventilation ducts.
